• October 2008 - Shakespeare Schools Festival  - a unique arts-education initiative which enables every 11-16-year-old in the UK to perform a half-hour production of Shakespeares most famous plays in their local professional theatre.
   
• 10 to 12 October 2008 - Ullapool Guitar Festival
   
• 16 October to 2 November 2008 - Wexford Festival Opera - Brand-new productions, choral and orchestral concerts, lunchtime recitals, talks, stand-up shows, an extensive fringe program, all in a setting of genuine charm.
   
• Anglesey Oyster & Welsh Produce Festival - Celebrity chefs, Anglesey Food Awards, talks, seminars and demonstrations including the Welsh Cheese Seminar, competitions, entertainment and plenty of food are all part of this festival.
   
• Hastings Week - One of the most famous dates in English history - 14th October 1066, when the Battle of Hastings was fought and won - is marked by a special week of varied and colourful events.
