• 1 December 2008 - St Andrew's Day Public Holiday (Scotland Only)
   
• Yuletide York  - The four-day St Nicholas Fayre launches Yorks variety of festive city centre markets and events leading up to Christmas.
   
• Killarney Historic Stages Rally  - This Tarmac Rally organised by Killarney & District Motor Club has become a firm favourite with competitors, catering for cars built between 1964 and 1979.
   
• Scott's Selkirk  - A Millennium project that proved so popular it has become an established part of the Selkirk calendar. During the weekend the whole town centre reverts to the 19th century days of Sir Walter Scott, creating a magical Christmas atmosphere.
   
• The Royal Variety Performance  - The London Coliseum is home to this annual event with profits going to the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund.
   
• Olympia, The London International Horse Show  - Show jumping, dressage, displays, dog agility, Shetland Pony Grand National and arena competitions are just some of the offerings at this yearly event.
   
• 25 December 2008 (Thursday) - Christmas Day
   
• 26 December 2008 (Friday) - Boxing Day Public Holiday
   
• Edinburgh's Hogmanay  - Four days of new year celebrations featuring a variety of music and performers from around the world, comedy, a torchlight procession and New Year's Eve events.
   
• 31 December 2008 (Wednesday) - New Years Eve
