For some serious fishing picnics and mountain biking the beautiful Elan Valley with its stunningly lovely reservoirs is the area’s main attraction and fishing enthusiasts are also well served on the River Wye. Pony trekking and golf are enjoyed nearby there is a sports centre in Llanidloes cycle hire is available in Rhayader and farmland on the fringes of Llanwrtyd Wells is the setting for the infamous World Bog Snorkelling Championships. Attractions as diverse as Mynach Falls Llywernog Silver Lead Mine and the delightful spa town of Llandrindod Wells are all within a short drive and the area’s numerous restaurants and country pubs offer excellent dining.
