National Costume & Reenactment Groups
- The Medieval Combat Society The
MCS is a member of the Early Medieval Alliance (EMA), and has over 60
members from all over the
UK and all walks of life. We are fun, friendly, family orientated
medieval reenactors with some families of 3 generations taking part, and
roles for members of all ages.
- NARES National Association of
Re-Enactment Societies
- The Vikings are the
oldest and largest Dark Age re-enactment society in the UK, and probably
the world. While the Society concentrates mainly on the 10th Century,
some events are set in the wider period from 790 to 1066, with the
appropriate modifications to dress and equipment used. Their aim is to
provide an accurate and educational portrayal of the Viking period, with
an equal emphasis on the daily life of the period, and on the more
warlike aspects of life in what was a formative period in European
history.
- Company of Chivalry
- a group of people from all walks of life with a love of Medieval
England in common, who aim to recreate the culture and technology of
English society in the second half of the fourteenth century.
- Deus Vult is an historical
re-enactment group aimed at recreating the life and warfare of the early
Crusade period c.1095-1250
- The Hoplite Association -
bringing 5th Century BC to Life
- Shrapnel's Battery is a
group of enthusiasts who represent a picture of 18th. Century life in
the British Royal Artillery, dressed in authentic uniform and using
equipment modelled on the original.
