Essex

Essex is in the east of England, just to the north-east of London. Essex borders Kent to the south, the City of Greater London to the southwest, Hertfordshire to the west, Cambridgeshire to the northwest, Suffolk to the north. To the east is the North Sea.

The county town of Essex is Chelmsford, other major towns include Colchester, Basildon and Harlow. Tilbury is one of Britain's major ports. Stansted Airport is Britain's third-busiest airport.

Essex has undulating countryside, rolling wheatfields and ancient woodlands, as well as the east cost with many seaside villages. The ancient woodland, Epping Forest, straddles the border between north-east Greater London and Essex.
